American Friends of UNRWA (AFU) is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports the humanitarian and human development work of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) through fundraising, advocacy, and outreach. AFU aims to educate the general American public about the situation of Palestinian refugees and generate support for UNRWA's work in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan.

In Syria, Palestine refugees create hope in the midst of tragedy
19 June 2013-Amal is one of many Palestine refugees displaced by the ongoing conflict in Syria. The 38 year-old mother of four is exhausted physically and emotionally after she and her family left their home in Husseinieh for Sbeineh camp in Damascus, and finally to Jaramana in search of safety.
