Events and Partnerships Officer
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Washington DC

This is a unique opportunity to build American support for UNRWA and Palestine refugees through high-impact fundraising, educational, outreach events and long-lasting, strategic partnerships.

What you’ll do:

  • Create, plan, and implement annual and long-term events strategy

  • Schedule, execute, and coordinate logistics for all events and activities for the purpose of meeting strategic goals, and act as primary liaison in the coordination of third-party events that benefit UNRWA USA.

    • Events include: peer-to-peer fundraising events like our signature Gaza 5K walk/runs and the Iftar for Gaza series, private fundraising dinners, donor stewardship and cultivation events, panel discussions, roundtables, and receptions with UNRWA officials

  • Build long-lasting relationships by recruiting, motivating, and stewarding individuals and organizations who make events successful (participants, volunteers, host committees, sponsors and vendors)

  • Build and develop a range of other creative partnerships for UNRWA USA that advance our mission through new and third party events

  • Work with the communications team and contractors to develop all event-related collateral and communications (digital marketing, emails, website, social media, and any direct mail)

  • Implement a robust post-event donor and attendee communications and follow up program to convert attendees into long-term UNRWA USA donors

  • Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators and report ROI for each campaign

  • Collaborate with the Finance and Administrative Officer to forecast and manage event budgets

  • Manage nationwide calendar of events of interest, and coordinate UNRWA USA presence

Gaza 5K race director:

  • Serve as the race director for the Gaza 5K, our signature event, planning a minimum of three (3) races annually in key cities across the United States

  • Prospect and secure financial and in-kind sponsors for each race

  • Manage relationships with various parks departments for permits and onsite logistics

  • Collaborate with communications team to develop and implement 5K outreach strategy

  • Manage and negotiate any contracts/relationships with vendors

  • Train and manage volunteers and staff

  • You’re known for your can-do spirit, creativity, resourcefulness, and people skills

  • You’re a pro at crafting effective emails and dialing the phone, and public speaking doesn’t scare you

  • You have the ability to manage simultaneous events of varying scales and different timelines

  • You are able to work events from start to finish throughout the year, includes nights and weekends

  • You are willing to travel at least once a month

Skill we’d like you to have (not required):

  • A strong understanding of UNRWA’s work and the situation for Palestine refugees

  • Experience working with the Arab American community
